Insulated Swing Doors
Insulated swing doors provide two-way access between adjoining work areas. Available in single-leaf and double-leaf configurations, they accommodate different entrance layouts and passage requirements.
Also known as flip-flap doors, these doors use double-action movement. Each leaf can open inward or outward, allowing access from either side.
Single-Leaf and Double-Leaf Configurations
A single-leaf swing door uses one moving panel. A double-leaf arrangement divides the opening between two panels, providing an alternative configuration for wider passageways.
The choice depends on clear opening dimensions, available swing space and the items moving through the entrance.
Insulated Construction and Surface Finishes
The reference configuration described here combines a polyurethane-insulated leaf with anodised aluminium perimeter profiles and a matching frame.
Facing options include antimicrobial glass-reinforced plastic (GRP), painted sheet metal or stainless steel. Colour selection depends on the chosen finish. These alternatives allow the surface specification to reflect cleaning requirements and working conditions.
Hinges, Seals and Protective Fittings
Rising double-action hinges incorporate a 90° hold-open position. Acrylic vision panels provide visibility through the door, with EPDM seals around the glazing.
A separate EPDM gasket system follows the leaf profile. A PVC protection strip cushions incidental contact at its installed height.
These fittings describe the reference configuration; the supplied specification should be confirmed when ordering.
Application Planning
Insulated swing doors can be considered for preparation rooms, commercial kitchen service routes and storage passages. Temperature conditions, passage frequency and handling equipment should guide the final specification.
For entrances adjoining insulated wall panels, coordinate the frame and fixing arrangement with the supporting structure. Where another opening mechanism is required, consider hinged cold room doors or sliding cold room doors.

- Two-way passage: Approach and open the door from either side.
- Choice of entrance layout: Select a single-leaf or double-leaf arrangement to suit the opening.
- Visibility before passage: Acrylic vision panels allow users to check activity on the opposite side.
- Temporary open access: The 90° hold-open position allows the door to remain open during repeated transfers.
- Protection at contact points: A PVC strip helps cushion incidental contact with the door surface.
